Classy Ants sweep aside Carluke in league opener

The Ants took a break from the Sectional League Cup campaign to open their league campaign against last seasons Central District Division Two champions Carluke Rovers at the John Cumming Stadium.Unfortunatley I was not at the game so the report will be brief.
JORDAN WHITE opened the scoring for the Ants with his third of the season after 30 minutes to give the Ants a lead that was well deserved. Carluke then went close minutes later but the shot went just over the crossbar. Mackie almost made it 2-0 just before the break but his effort narrowly missed the target.

The Ants doubled their advantage 13 minutes into the second half when a clever 1-2 saw Man of the Match BERNIE MCDONALD collect the ball and fire the Ants further ahead with his first goal of this campaign. Carluke managed to pull a goal back in the 62nd minute when Chris Weir netted a penalty however the Ants were awarded a spot kick of their own in the 68th minute and CHRIS MACKIE continued his impressive start to his Ants career when he netted his fourth goal in four games after a Carluke defender was deemed to have handled in the box.
A fine performance from The Ants who now travel to Dunterlie trying to keep their qualification hopes alive in the sectional league cup group against Superleague Premier Side Arthurlie
